Meet Jess Baker
Hi, I’m Jess Baker
Shiatsu TherapistI am a trauma informed meditation teacher and shiatsu therapist.
I combine my background in science and passion in East Asian medicine to work with body, mind & spirit to support people through life's difficult transitions.
This might show up for clients in a number of different ways, such as pain or tension in the body, headaches, fatigue, sleep disturbances, over-thinking, lack of confidence, digestive issues, depression and anxiety, or experiences of grief.
It can also manifest in ways that cannot be named and just brings a feeling of being stuck, or longing for more, unable to move forward either physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually.

Clinical FocusI was always someone who loved touch and would love to get a massage, but when I found shiatsu it completely changed my life. One of my clients said it perfectly when they described it like a massage for the soul.
In a world that is so fast paced and stressful many of us live in a constant state of fight, flight freeze, as we jump from one thing to the next only slowing down when our body is exhausted, in pain, overwhelmed with stress or tension, or just not working like it is supposed to.
I know this first hand. I always led an adventurous life travelling the world and working in remote Australia as a geologist, making multi million dollar decisions.
I have worked as an emergency response captain and medical first responder- catching snakes, cutting up cars, fighting fires, abseiling off buildings, flying to work in choppers. I have trained and facilitated groups in Australia and around the world.
Then I got chronic fatigue syndrome. I was confined to bed and, on a good day, could crawl to the lounge room. This time allowed me to really apply all the wellbeing tools I had gathered and led me on the path to shiatsu and traditional chinese medicine.
I am back to living a life of adventure. I love to travel, explore, connect, learn, be in nature and eat delicious food. The only difference being I am now living in harmony and with much greater ease, joy and gratitude.
I love sharing these profound practices which are full of deep wisdom to help others find harmony and balance in their body, mind and spirit, so they too can flourish even in the face of difficulty.
I consider this work to be very sacred. We have limited spaces in this world where we can connect on a level that allows us to be truly seen, heard, held and celebrated for our unique expression.
I work with my clients to create a safe, non judgmental space guided by the practices of East Asian medicine.
Here they are encouraged to connect with the wisdom of their body, inviting their tension and nervous system to melt into a state conducive for rest, digestion and healing.
It is truly an honour to hold space for my clients and witness the profound changes that flow into their everyday lives from engaging in regular treatments.
