Meet Dr Cathrin Twomey
Hi, I’m Cathrin
Chinese Medicine Doctor & AcupuncturistI am a traditional Chinese medicine doctor and acupuncturist with a focus on women’s health, fertility and the hormonal changes of perimenopause and beyond.
I believe that feeling heard is an important part of care, and I feel privileged to support people with their health concerns.
My sessions are tailored to the individual and offered in a calm, welcoming environment, with clear explanations so you can make informed choices about your care and confident with your health care.

Supporting women through perimenopause and the years beyond is the work I care most about.
Perimenopause is rarely a straight line. Hormones fluctuate rather than simply decline, and the effects don't stay in the body, fatigue, broken sleep, physical and emotional changes that ripple out into work, relationships and our sense of self. None of this is abstract to me. I know how much it matters to be properly heard through a transition of this size, and how rarely there is time and space for that.
I also know how common it is to feel misunderstood and to find the time and right support needed to properly explore these concerns.
Through my own personal experience with traditional Chinese medicine, I understand how transformative it can be to feel supported through a period of such significant change.
I take the time to understand how these experiences are affecting you as an individual, and I work alongside your existing treatment to provide personalised care and to support you to navigate this transition and the changes it can bring.
Your skin concerns are another area I focus my clinical training on. Supporting skin across all stages of life, while creating a particularly supportive and welcoming space for teenagers and young adults.
Skin changes can affect much more than physical comfort, they often influence confidence, self-esteem, social life and emotional wellbeing during a time when identity is still developing.
I strive to create a calm and respectful space where young people feel comfortable being themselves and know they will be listened to and understood.
I'm focused on making a meaningful contribution to the health and wellbeing of individuals and the broader community, and to a model of healthcare where preventative and holistic approaches are valued alongside conventional care, with the two working together.
